A thin layer of enamel is removed so the veneer sits flush, and that enamel doesn't grow back, which means the tooth will always need a veneer or crown on it from then on. That's the honest tradeoff, and it's why we suggest bonding or whitening first when those would get you most of the way there.

Porcelain veneers typically last 10 to 15 years or more. They resist stain better than natural enamel and far better than bonding. Grinding, nail biting, and chewing ice are what shorten their life, so we make a night guard if you grind.
