Do mine need to go?
Signs it's time
- Pain or pressure at the very back of your jaw
- A swollen, tender gum flap behind your last molar
- Food trapping back there no matter how you brush
- Jaw stiffness or one-sided headaches
- Crowding pressure against the tooth in front
- Nothing at all: impacted teeth can sit silent for years, which is why X-rays find them first

$69 exam, X-rays & cleaning
The exam shows where things stand and whether your wisdom teeth actually need to come out. You see the images before anything else.

Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out.
If they're upright, fully through the gum, and you can keep them clean, keeping them is a fine answer. We'll say so, and keep an eye on them at your regular checkups.
Removal earns its place when a tooth is impacted, trapping food and infection, or pushing into the tooth ahead of it. If that's what your X-ray shows, we'll point at it on the screen, quote each tooth, and you decide from there.

Recovery, day by day
The day of
Bite on gauze, rest, cold compress on the cheek. No straws, no smoking, no spitting: the clot forming in the socket is the whole ballgame.
Days 1 to 3
Swelling peaks around day two or three; that's normal. Soft food only: smoothies with a spoon rather than a straw, warm soup rather than hot, yogurt, eggs, mashed potatoes. Gentle salt-water rinses after the first 24 hours.
Days 4 to 7
Most people are back to work or school. Add soft solids as comfort allows, and skip crunchy and seedy things for the week.
Call us if
Pain spikes on day three to five instead of easing: that's dry socket, it's fixable, come in. Fever, or bleeding that won't slow, same answer: call.
Other extractions
Not a wisdom tooth? We pull those too.
Cracked beyond saving, loose from gum disease, or a baby tooth that won't budge: Dr. Wong handles general extractions in the same office. And if a tooth that shows when you smile has to go, we'll talk replacement the same visit.

Questions
Wisdom teeth FAQ
Each tooth is quoted by how it sits: a tooth that's through the gum costs less to remove than one impacted in the bone. Many PPO plans cover a share when removal is medically necessary, and we verify your benefits so you see your number before anything is scheduled. Medi-Cal and IEHP accepted, with in-house payment plans and Cherry financing available. Call (909) 793-1595 for your quote.
We use thorough local numbing, so you're awake but comfortable: you feel pressure, not pain. We'll go over your comfort options at the consult, and if your case calls for deeper sedation we'll tell you straight.
Not during: you're numbed the whole time. Afterward, expect soreness and swelling for three or four days, managed with ice, rest, and pain medication.
If more than one needs to go, usually yes, because one recovery beats two. But only the ones that need it. Upright teeth you can keep clean can stay.
Most people are back to work or school in two to four days. Swelling peaks around day two or three, then eases. The socket keeps healing quietly for a few weeks after.
First few days: smoothies with a spoon, warm soup, yogurt, eggs, mashed potatoes. No straws, because the suction can pull the clot. Add soft solids as you're comfortable, and give crunchy and seedy things a week.
It's when the healing clot comes out early and leaves bone exposed: pain that spikes around day three to five instead of fading. Avoid it by skipping straws, smoking, and hard spitting for 72 hours. If it happens anyway, come in. The fix is quick and relief is fast.
We watch them on your checkup X-rays through the teen years. Younger usually means shorter roots and an easier recovery, but age alone isn't a reason. Position is.
Call (909) 793-1595 when we open and we'll get you in as soon as the schedule allows. Until then: warm salt-water rinses, over-the-counter pain relief, and a cold compress on the outside of your cheek.
